Jason Momoa Sarcastically Threatens Aquaman 2 Production as
Jason Momoa has allegedly taken the drastic action of refusing to shoot Aquaman 2 as part of his protest against the construction of a Thirty Meter Telescope in Hawaii. The actor sarcastically threatened the production of the DC film as he posted an image on Instagram depicting a former site of a telescopic structure to demonstrate the environmental danger that the proposed construction project in Mauna Kea poses to the unscathed land on the island of Hawaii."Sorry Warner Bros we can’t shoot Aquaman 2. Because Jason got run over by a bulldozer trying to stop the desecration of his native land," he wrote in the caption, adding, "Enough is enough. Go somewhere else."
He continued: "Repost. This is what telescope construction looks like (Subaru Telescope, 1992). The TMT will be four times larger on unscathed land. We must protect out scared mountain from further desecration. (sic)"Live Science reports that the $1.4 billion Thirty Meter Telescope is expected to generate images that are "more than 12 times sharper then those from the Hubble Space Telescope," but so far it has only served to magnify controversy over its planned construction on the sacred site of a dormant volcano.Momoa has had an extremely strong presence at the protests on the island, sharing multiple Instagram posts and stories of the on-going resistance, which is steadily building momentum. It was announced back in February that Aquaman 2 was officially in development, with David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, co-writer of the first film, writing the sequel's script. However, as a top advocate of this important cause, it remains unclear whether these recent developments may affect his shooting schedule for Aquaman 2, which is currently set for release on December 16, 2022.Adele Ankers is a Freelance Entertainment Journalist.
