Marvel's Avengers 19-minute Gameplay Demo Revealed

During the show, Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics unveiled a 19-minute gameplay demo from Marvel's Avengers. The demo was previously shown at E3 and San Diego Comic-Con, but the footage wasn't made public until Gamescom.

The video, taken from the tutorial level of the game, shows off gameplay from each of Marvel's Avengers' five playable characters: Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Black Widow, and Captain America. IGN was also able to gain a better understanding of how each hero plays by going hands-on with Marvel's Avengers.

Death Stranding: New Trailers, Gameplay Details, Urination, and More

Hideo Kojima debuted four new trailers for Death Stranding during Gamescom. Among them were new character trailers for Margaret Qualley's Mama and Guillermo del Toro's Deadman, as well as the first footage of uncut gameplay (above) and a story trailer exclusive to Gamescom attendees.

Though it's not publicly available, that Gamescom-exclusive trailer provides essential context to understanding the main mission of Norman Reedus' Sam. Luckily for those of us who weren't in attendance, IGN's Joe Skrebels saw and subsequently recapped everything from that latest Death Stranding trailer.

Beyond new trailers, Kojima revealed a urination mechanic, which seemingly allows Sam to pee and create mushrooms. We have no answers beyond that, though we know you can't peek at Norman Reedus' digital penis.

Geoff Keighley, whose likeness appears in the game, also discussed Death Standing's multiplayer component, saying, "I think people aren’t quite fully ready for what [Kojima's] doing."

During Google's presentation at Gamescom, the company announced Cyberpunk 2077 is coming to Stadia. CD Projekt Red, meanwhile, shared over 100 detailed Cyberpunk 2077 screenshots during the show, highlighting different characters, weapons, and locations.

CD Projekt Red also addressed multiplayer during Gamescom, telling Eurogamer it has a small team performing R&D into the potential mode, but its focus remains "on single-player experience, and that's what you'll get in 2020."

Be sure to check back with IGN later this week, as the developer is releasing 15 new minutes of Cyberpunk gameplay on August 30.
